DES MOINES, Iowa – After 40 draws without a major Powerball winner, with Monday night’s 41st attempt will be different.
Thanks to almost four months of non-compliance, the Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $ 685 million, making it the eighth largest in US Lottery history. No one has won the grand prize of a game since June 5.
Each drawer sets a record, marking the initial marks of the 36 drawers completed in January 2021. The longer the game goes without a big prize, the higher the payout will grow.
The jackpot drought is for the faint of heart, as the game has a chance of 292.2 million chances to win one of the biggest prizes attracting the most players.
Lottery officials are quick to note that even though no one wins the jackpot, most people have won small prizes, including 2.8 million players in a single Saturday draw. The win started at $ 1 million to $ 4 million.
The $ 685 million raised prize is for the winner who chooses the annuity option, paid for over twenty-nine years. Almost all of the major winners take advantage of the budget, which for Monday’s draw is estimated at $ 485.5 million. Any prize option may also be subject to taxation.
Powerball is played in 45 states along with Washington, DC, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
