Kodiak the missing National Aviary eagle returns home

A week later, Kodiak the Steller’s Sea Eagle returned to the National Aviary in the North Side Sunday evening. An eagle emerged from its nest at the National Aviary on Saturday, September 25. National Aviary wildlife experts spotted Kody at a house in Pine Township on Sunday, according to the agency’s spokeswoman Molly Toth. Officials said Kody had been spotted earlier that day nearby, and the flight team was able to locate and bring him home safely. The aviary said the team used a number of artificial intelligence and equipment, to safely capture Kody and bring him home to the Aviary. “At the first veterinary interview, Kody appears to be in good health and physical condition,” Toth said in a statement. “She is currently resting in the backyard of the National Aviary and is eating healthy meat.” The aviary said its entire team was welcome to have Kody back and shared their gratitude to the community of supporters who helped in the effort. The Eagle left its place in the National Aviary on Saturday, September 25th.
