Kamala Harris condemns European explorers for bringing the ‘wave of destruction’ of Native Americans

Deputy President Kamala Harris denounced European travelers who found Americans during Tuesday talks at the National Congress of American Indians 78th Annual Convention.

“Since 1934, every October, the United States has observed the journey of European explorers who began landing on the American coast,” Harris said. “But that’s not the whole story. That’s not the whole story.”

“Those investigators were involved in the genocide – genocide, kidnapping, and the spread of disease,” he continued. “We must not evade the past of this shame, and we must be clear about it and do all we can to rectify what is happening again in the community today.”

Harris also stated that he is a Director BidenBetter Reconstruction Plans will have “significant implications for India.”

After citing the number of American women and girls absent and claiming that the American people’s voting rights had been violated, Harris said, “American Indians can live in poverty, unemployment, and often struggle to find good health and affordable housing.”

“This chronic instability, perpetual injustice is not good. And this epidemic has only made it worse,” he added.

Harris said Biden’s $ 3.5 trillion infrastructure bill will address many of the problems Native Americans face.

“This bill represents the investment in the great infrastructure that our country has made since the start of the Second World War and the gifts now, an important opportunity to strengthen the State of India,” he said.

On Monday, Biden became one first president to mark the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples Day by the president.

“For generations, Federal laws designed to enforce and expel Native people and end Native culture,” Biden said. he wrote. “Today, we acknowledge the resilience of the Indian people and their resilience and the positive impact they have had on all aspects of the American people.”
