Junior Batista, CEO of Jtax Corp.
Can you tell us a little bit about Jtax Corp and what inspired you to get into accounting?
Jtax Corp was founded in 2017 and is based in Boca Raton, Florida. We specialize in corporate and private tax returns, accounting, tax advice and company formation. We also help with the exemption from employee compensation, the application for ITIN (individual tax identification number) and document certification, FIRPTA and the application for withholding tax certificate.
I like to say that I fell into accounting. I started my career in Boston in 2009, where I worked for three years. I wanted to live in Florida and found the right time and opportunity to move and started working for a friend who had a tax office in Pompano Beach. I worked on the development of his company Tax Controller Inc. for several years and served as Vice President from 2012 to 2017.
In 2017 I was ready to start my own business. It was a tough decision to part with such a great friend, but my pursuit of success and improved technology was strong and inspired me to move forward and join Jtax Corp. I was the father of two children at the time and my second child was only four months old when I started this trip alone, so it took a lot of courage and will to make it come true against all odds.
What motivates you as an entrepreneur?
Accounting is a problem solving business and the challenges you face on a daily basis keep me motivated. In my business, I am very focused on helping people by providing a solution to problems that they cannot solve on their own. I have the following quote on my wall in my office and that is my job for me:

How does your practice support the Hispanic community?
Many of the clients I have worked with in the Hispanic community try to work here and support their families. Among other things, I support these customers by providing them with financial support at the beginning, be it with setting up their ITINs so that they can identify themselves for bank accounts or to apply for a credit card. I also support and advise many clients in setting up their own business. They may need help and guidance on what to do and understand what type of business is best for them. I also advise you on what you can do to save more taxes.
For me, being able to support the Hispanic community means honoring people who work so hard. I haven’t found a community that works so hard, both physically and mentally.
I believe that if you educate your customers well, it will make their lives easier, and ultimately your life too. If your customers have had a good experience working with you, they will recommend others – my primary goal has always been to help customers and create a deeper sense of community.
What was your proudest success as a consultant?
I recently advised a company that had been using Xero for about three months but was struggling due to a lack of knowledge and information about running a business. By pointing them in the right direction, they have now cut their accounting hours in half.
I also take pride in serving our community with accounting services and helping them save time. While we are working on their books, they can work on their sales and service and ultimately use that time more to grow their business. We focus on providing excellent service and their growth and revenues are a result of this.
What are you looking forward to in the coming year?
We look forward to providing quality services and being a resource to our clients in all aspects of their tax and accounting needs. We are currently working on a personalized platform that will allow us to get in more direct contact with our customers and provide them with important information all year round. An educated customer is a grateful customer, and ultimately we will work together to get the best results.
What would you like potential customers to know about working with you?
I’m obsessed with making sure things are just right for customers. If I am not doing something 100%, I am not doing it because I want to offer a high level of service. My personal mantra that I live by is: “Earn money by doing a good job.”
